German Interior Ministry Requests Asylum for 2,500 Christian Iraqis
The German Interior Minister, Earhart Corting, requested permission to give political asylum to more than 2,500 Christian Iraqis after the latest violence targeting them in Iraq. Corting promised in statements on Wednesday to obtain the asylum papers for the Christian Iraqis in Germany immediately and aside from any decision from the European Union on this issue. According to Corting, his country should present human aid to the Christian minorities in Iraq, especially the Iraqi officials are incapable of protecting them.
