Turkish Journalists Call on Authorities to Apologize to Armenians
Turkish Platform for Solidarity with Imprisoned Journalists (TGDP) issued a statement on the occasion of Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day - April 24.
The statement says gangs of Young Turks killed 1 million Armenians from 1915 to 1917.
"In 1915, 220 Armenian intellectuals were exiled and exterminated on their way. Graves of 32 killed Armenian journalists have not been found so far," the statement reads.
The TGDP members noted they respect memory of those killed in 1915 and call on Turkey, the successor of the Ottoman Empire, to face the history and reject denial policy.
"This denial policy also contributed to the murder of Hrant Dink," the statement says.
